Techniekdag Bergambacht
The Mercedes-Benz R/C 107 Club in The Netherlands organised on 13 July a 'Techniekdag', a day centered around technical topics. It was organised at the workshop of Cor De Jong in Bergambacht (NL).
The topics of the day were the injectors and the distribution chain. Around 20 type 107 SL's had gathered and were subject to inspection by Cor to see if we could recognise the noise generated by a distribution chain being too loose. Good for the owners of the cars, but a pity for the educational aspect, none of the cars showed any issue.
While being inspected, Cor recognised that my brake fluid needed to be replaced as too much moisture had collected into the fluid, turning it black in colour. No issue for driving in 'The Polder' but definitely an issue while driving 'Route Napolen' in France. So this will be corrected this Friday.
As I am new in the technical aspects of cars but eager to learn, this day was a golden opportunity to learn more about the SL in general, but my own car in particular. While Cor inspected my car for having a too high idle running of the car, he explained the elements to look for and corrected some aspects. Unfortunately, he was not able to finish the investigation as the lambda-sonde seems to be defective and a brass pin blocked the access to one adjuster. But we all learned a lot!
Definitely worth the visit this day in The Netherlands! Looking forward to the next one...
