My car has been technically approved!
Hurray! The car passed the vehicle check today. The repairs done were sufficient to pass.
So, the next step is to get insurance and to register the car to be allowed on Belgian roads.
So, I learned today, for an imported oldtimer car, I cannot request for insurance with MARSH online, so I had to hand in documents by post or by making an appointment. MARSH is the insurance company, that has been promoted by the Belgian Federation for Old Vehicles (FBOV).
As I have set my target to have my first real drive on 1-07 of this year, there is some hurry, as normally the duration to get your car insured, registered and obtaining the license plates can take 3 weeks if done by post, easily. Being on 11 June, this means too long!
Fortunately I was able to hand in all required documents at the MARSH office in Brussels, so they are able to insure the car now, while handing me back the documents I need for registration of the car. The insurance agent has arranged an appointment for me for the registration on Monday 24 June... Technically it was possible earlier than that (19 June to be precise), however, as I am not in Belgium next week, this was not a viable option.
24 June, one week ahead of the magical 1-07 day. So, back on schedule... ;-)
